Presenting changing exhibitions of international, national and regional art of the modern day, Houston’s Contemporary Art Museum also hosts lectures, educational programs and other special events. Designed by award-winning architect Gunnar Birkerts, the museum building opened in 1972 and runs around 10 distinct temporary exhibitions every year. It occupies a distinct stainless steel building just north of Hermann Park in the Houston Museum District, near The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.
